The solution after Gmail disabled SMTP authentication

β—†
Gmail Β· Yahoo Β· Outlook β€” unstable or unavailable for trail cameras in 2026
How It Works
The Problem

SMTP for trail cameras got complicated.
Here is the simple solution.

β—†

Gmail no longer supports simple user+password auth for cameras. App Passwords exist but trail cameras often lack proper TLS β€” making delivery unstable.

Gmail App Password β€” works sometimes, unstable on cameras with limited TLS
Yahoo / Outlook SMTP β€” heavily restricted for third-party devices
mail.camsmtp.ro β€” works permanently
Trail camera settings β€” our solution
Server: mail.camsmtp.ro
Port: 587
User: auto-generated username
Parolă: your chosen password

Simple Setup

3 steps and your camera
sends photos again

β—†

Create account

Register in 2 minutes. You automatically get a short SMTP email address and a securely generated password.

Configure your camera

In your camera SMTP menu: server mail.camsmtp.ro. Choose port for your camera: 465 (SSL) Β· 4651 (no SSL) Β· 587 (STARTTLS). Enter your CamSMTP credentials.

Choose your plan

Just €1/month/camera. Pay by SMS, Credit Card, Google Pay or Apple Pay. No hidden fees β€” cancel anytime.

Receive photos

Photos go directly to your email and the CamSMTP app β€” just like any modern camera app. Only your authorized addresses receive photos β€” everything else is blocked automatically.

Features

More than just
an SMTP server

β—†
01πŸ›‘

Recipient filtering

The server checks every RCPT TO. Unauthorized addresses get a 550 error before delivery.

02πŸ“‹

Complete log

All emails β€” allowed and blocked β€” with timestamp and block reason. Visible in real time.

03πŸ•

Time-based filters

Set the time window when the camera is allowed to send. Outside those hours, the server blocks automatically.

04πŸ”‘

Regenerable password

Camera compromised? Regenerate the SMTP password in seconds. The old password becomes immediately invalid.

05πŸ“·

One camera, one email

Each camera gets its own dedicated email address and SMTP password.

06⚑

Setup in 2 minutes

No DNS, no SSL certificates to manage. Register, copy SMTP credentials, put them in your camera.

07πŸ–Ό

Photo gallery in your browser

All photos received from your camera appear in a scrollable gallery β€” no more opening emails one by one.

08⚠️

Free SMTP servers are disappearing

Gmail disabled SMTP auth in 2022. Google announced further restrictions to combat spam. Your camera needs a dedicated server.

09πŸ“¨

Auto-forward with attachment

The system automatically forwards each photo as an attachment to a separate list of addresses β€” regardless of camera settings.

10🌍

International support

Works with any trail camera brand worldwide. SIM card cameras supported. APN guides for all major European operators.

Upgrade your trail camera to a modern platform. From €1/month.

Compatibility

Works with any camera
that supports SMTP

β—†

If your camera has an SMTP menu β€” server, port, username, password β€” it works with CamSMTP. Regardless of brand, model or SIM connection.

I use a Boskon BG8304 camera that sends batches of 15 photos. With other SMTP servers it failed constantly. With CamSMTP, everything arrives perfectly every time.

FAQ

Frequently asked
questions

β—†
CamSMTP works with any trail camera that has an SMTP menu β€” server, port, username, password. This includes cameras from Hikvision, Reolink, Browning, Stealth Cam, Bushnell, Reconyx, Spypoint, Moultrie, Wildgame, Tactacam, Cuddeback and many others.
In May 2022, Google disabled the "Less secure app access" option that allowed direct SMTP authentication. Cameras using smtp.gmail.com get 535 Authentication Failed errors. This is permanent and cannot be reversed.
CamSMTP supports 3 ports: 465 (SSL/TLS direct), 4651 (no SSL, for older cameras), and 587 (STARTTLS). Most modern cameras work on port 465 or 587. Older models without SSL support use port 4651.
You can configure up to 4 email addresses in your CamSMTP dashboard and in the physical camera. The server delivers photos only to these addresses β€” all other recipients are automatically blocked. The addresses in your dashboard must exactly match those set in your trail camera, otherwise delivery will not work.
Yes, as long as the camera supports SMTP email sending over mobile data. You need to set the correct APN for your mobile operator. Check our blog for detailed APN guides for your country.
CamSMTP offers subscription plans for trail camera owners. Choose your plan during registration. No hidden fees β€” cancel anytime from your dashboard.
